Fiumicino Airport recorded more than 24.3 million passengers in the first half of the year; In the first six months of 2026, over 9.5 million passengers passed through the airports of the North-East Airport Hub; The airports of Bari, Brindisi and Foggia handled more than 5.7 million passengers during the first half of 2026.

In June 2026, the capital’s airport system – comprising Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Fiumicino and Giovan Battista Pastine Airport in Ciampino – recorded a total of 5.1 million passengers.
More specifically, Rome Fiumicino Intercontinental Airport handled 4.8 million passengers, in line with the same period in 2025.
In the short- and medium-haul sector, 3.8 million passengers were recorded, representing a 1.3 per cent increase compared with June 2025. As regards the EU flight segment, a 2.7 per cent increase in traffic was recorded, driven by the performance of Spain (up 9.4 per cent), Greece (up 12.3 per cent) and Poland (up 21.4 per cent).
The short-haul non-EU traffic segment grew by 4.6 per cent. Compared with last year, there was a 13.4 per cent increase to Tunisia and an 18.1 per cent increase to Algeria. Other rapidly growing markets include Serbia, Georgia, North Macedonia and Montenegro.
As for long-haul flights to North America, the United States and Canada together recorded a 3.9 per cent increase in passenger volumes compared with last year. Furthermore, the number of airports served rose to 20 – two more than in June 2025 – thanks to the introduction of routes to Houston and Seattle.
During June, there were up to nine daily departures to New York alone, which remains the most important destination in North America, with flights to J.F. Kennedy and Newark airports.
The Far East recorded growth of 6.8 per cent compared with June 2025, driven in particular by routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Dhaka, Hong Kong and Delhi. Perth, meanwhile, benefited from a significant increase in flight frequencies during the month, with daily flights commencing from the last week of June.
Giovan Battista Pastine Airport in Ciampino ended June with 325,000 passengers passing through.

In the first six months of 2026, over 9.5 million passengers passed through the airports of the North-East Airport Hub (Venice, Treviso, Verona and Brescia), an increase of +7% compared with the first half of 2025. In June, nearly 2 million passengers were handled, representing a positive trend of +5% on the previous year.
Against the backdrop of the ongoing geopolitical crisis in the Middle East and in Russia/Ukraine, Venice Airport once again broke its all-time record in June, with nearly 1.25 million passengers, up 6.9 per cent on the previous year. Cumulative passenger numbers stood at nearly 6 million, up 7.8 per cent compared with the first half of 2025.
International traffic, totalling 4.8 million passengers since the start of the year, accounted for 81 per cent of the total. Non-Schengen passengers numbered 1.76 million, an increase of 7 per cent compared with the previous year.
After the domestic market, the main market for the half-year was Spain, with over 800,000 passengers (+13% on 2025). The third-largest market was the UK, with over 780,000 passengers, up 12% on the previous year.
Passengers on long-haul routes totalled almost 400,000 in the first half of 2026, with load factors exceeding 90% on the Canadian market in particular.
At the end of June, the new direct route between Venice and Cairo, operated by Egyptair, was launched, which will also boost passenger flows with the African market.
Treviso Airport recorded nearly 290,000 passengers during the month, in line with the previous year. Over 1.57 million passengers used Treviso Airport in the first six months of the year, an increase of 0.9% on the previous year.
In the first six months of 2026, the airport served 50 destinations across 22 countries. The main market was Spain, with over 300,000 passengers; the top destination was Tirana, followed at a considerable distance by Bucharest and Brussels.
Turning to Verona Airport, the first half of the year showed steady growth compared with 2025, with a steeper growth curve in the first quarter than in the last three months, which were affected by the conflict in the Middle East. Cumulative passenger numbers stood at over 1.96 million, an increase of +9.6% on the first half of 2025. In June, the airport handled over 440,000 passengers, a rise of +4.1% compared with the previous year.
Domestic traffic, with over 700,000 passengers – up +5% on the previous year – remains the airport’s leading market, serving 13 routes. International traffic, with 1,250,000 passengers, grew by +13%. The UK was once again the leading international market, with passenger numbers up by 20 per cent on 2025 (over 370,000 passengers), followed by Albania with over 130,000 passengers, up by 45 per cent on the previous year.
Catania, London and Palermo were the most popular destination cities for passengers travelling from ‘Catullo’.
On 18 June, the new check-in area dedicated to Neos was inaugurated, and on 21 June, an event was held at Catullo to launch the new Casablanca route operated by the Moroccan flag carrier, Royal Air Maroc.

At Bari/Palese Airport, 871,689 passengers arrived and departed in June, representing a 13.38 per cent increase compared with the 768,818 recorded in the same month of 2025. Domestic scheduled traffic recorded an increase of 5.83 per cent, whilst international scheduled traffic, with 544,001 passengers, saw growth of 18.73 per cent compared with the 458,199 passengers in June 2025. This resulted in an 11.32 per cent increase in total passenger traffic for the period January–June 2026, reaching 3,991,201 compared with 3,585,278 passengers in the first six months of last year.
At Brindisi Airport, June ended with a 14.27 per cent increase, with 424,773 passengers compared to 371,729 in June 2025. As a result, passenger traffic in the first six months rose from 1,553,994 passengers in 2025 to 1,700,299 in 2026, an increase of 9.41 per cent.
At Foggia Airport, passenger numbers for the first six months of 2026 stood at 27,458, a decrease of 30.83 per cent compared with the first six months of 2025, when 39,697 passengers passed through. In June 2026, 5,551 passengers arrived at and departed from Foggia, compared with 7,688 in June 2025, representing a decrease of 27.80 per cent.
Passenger numbers at the three Apulian airports for the period January to June 2026 totalled 5,718,958, representing an increase of 10.43% compared with the 5,178,969 passengers recorded in the first half of 2025.
