Fiumicino Airport recorded 3.2 million passengers in the second month of 2026; The North-Eastern Airport Hub handled over 1.25 million passengers in Fabruary 2026; The airports of Bari, Brindisi and Foggia handled more than 649,828 thousand passengers between arrivals and departures in January 2026.

In February 2026, the capital’s airport system, comprising Rome Fiumicino’s Leonardo da Vinci Airport and Ciampino’s Giovan Battista Pastine Airport, recorded a total of 3.5 million passengers, a slight decrease compared to the same period in 2025 (-0.7%).
Rome Fiumicino Intercontinental Airport, Italy’s main hub, recorded approximately 3.2 million passengers, a slight decrease compared to February 2025 (-0.9%), a result attributable to the two air transport strikes that took place during the month.
International short- and medium-haul markets recorded traffic volumes in line with last year, with continental Europe remaining the geographical area with the highest traffic volumes, driven primarily by EU routes. Africa also performed excellently, recording an 18% increase within this segment, and Egypt in particular, with volumes up 49% compared to February 2025. Africa also continued to grow on long-haul routes, with a 5% increase compared to February 2025. A highlight in this market is the new ITA Airways route to Mauritius, launched in November 2025, which has further expanded Rome Fiumicino’s intercontinental offering.
Long-haul traffic as a whole increased by 4% year-on-year. North America was the long-haul region that recorded the highest growth (28%), thanks mainly to services to Chicago and Los Angeles – which were absent during the same period the previous year – and to significant increases in capacity on routes to Washington and Atlanta.
Volumes to Central and South America grew by 9% compared with February 2025, driven by the strong performance of Brazil and Argentina and, in particular, the route to São Paulo (+15%).
Ciampino’s Giovan Battista Pastine Airport recorded 308,000 passengers in February 2026.

The Northeast Airport Hub handled over 1.25 million passengers in February 2026, with a positive trend of +12% over the previous year. Almost 2.5 million passengers were recorded, +12% compared to the first two months of 2025.
Venice also broke its historical record in February, handling over 770,000 passengers, an increase of +12.8% on 2025. Almost 1.5 million passengers were recorded in total, +11.6% compared to the first two months of 2025. It should be noted that over 12 million passengers were handled at the airport last year.
The main market was the domestic market, with almost 300,000 passengers and a 20% share of the total. Spain, Great Britain and France followed.
The most popular destinations for passengers in the first two months of 2026 were London, Paris and Madrid. The top domestic destination was Catania.
Treviso airport recorded over 220,000 passengers in February, with a positive trend of +1.8% compared to 2025. In the first two months of 2026, there were approximately 460,000 passengers, +2.7% on the previous year.
A total of 20 countries and 37 destinations were directly connected to Treviso airport. The only domestic destination was Crotone.
The market with the highest traffic flow was Spain (almost 100,000 passengers in the first two months), followed by Albania and Romania.
Tirana remained the airport’s main destination, followed by Bucharest and Brussels Charleroi.
Verona Airport closed February with 260,000 passengers and double-digit growth of +20%; there were over 520,000 passengers in the first two months of 2026, an increase of +20.5% on 2025.
The domestic market, which ranks first in terms of passenger volume, with seven operational routes, recorded over 90,000 passengers in the month and over 187,000 cumulatively (with a 36% share of total traffic).
The UK market remains the leading international market, with seven operational routes and over 82,000 passengers in the first two months.
Catania, the most popular route in February, with 14 weekly flights, recorded over 30,000 passengers in the month and over 64,000 year-to-date.
With 9 operational routes and 16,000 passengers carried, long-haul flights showed a +15% increase in February compared to 2025.
Rete Aeroportuale Pugliese (BRI, BDS, FOG, TAR)
In February 2026, the total number of passengers arriving and departing from Bari, Brindisi and Foggia airports was 649,828, an increase of 6.93% compared with the same month in 2025, when the total stood at 607,705 passengers.
For Bari Airport, the total number of passengers, including arrivals and departures, was 467,513, representing a 10.10% increase compared to the 424,625 recorded in February 2025.
As for Brindisi’s Salento Airport, February closed with 178,021 passengers, a slight increase of 0.72% compared to the 176,749 recorded in February 2025.
Finally, the number of passengers arriving at and departing from Foggia’s ‘Gino Lisa’ airport: there were 6,331 in February 2025, whilst in February 2026 there were 4,292, a decrease of 32.21%.
