Rome’s airport system recorded 5.4 million passengers in July; the Northeast Airport Hub handled almost 2 million passengers in July 2025; in July 2025, 1.2 million passengers passed through the airports of Bari, Brindisi and Foggia between arrivals and departures.

In July 2025, Rome’s airport system, which includes Fiumicino ‘Leonardo da Vinci’ and Ciampino ‘Giovan Battista Pastine’ airports, handled a total of 5.4 million passengers, an increase of 0.3% compared to the same month in 2024.
Looking at Rome Fiumicino airport, passenger traffic exceeded 5 million, up 0.1% compared to the same period last year.
Long-haul traffic performed particularly well, growing by 5%. North America remained the main market, with a 3% increase over the same period in 2024, making it the area with the highest growth in absolute terms.
This was followed by the Arabian Peninsula market, which recorded growth of 7% compared to July 2024, supported by an increase in Emirates frequencies, which since the beginning of June has increased direct connections between Rome Fiumicino and Dubai to three daily direct flights. Additional ITA Airways flights to Dubai and Jeddah, which were not available last year, also contributed to this growth.
Connections with Central and South America also performed very well, recording an 8% increase compared to July 2024.
Long-haul African routes grew by 14% year-on-year, also supported by an increase in Ethiopian Airlines connections to Addis Ababa.
The Far East market also grew, exceeding 2024 traffic volumes by 4%. Contributing to this result were the return last month of Cathay Pacific’s direct flights to Hong Kong and the availability of ITA Airways connections to Bangkok, which were absent in the same period last year.
Ciampino’s Giovan Battista Pastine Airport closed July with 351,000 passengers passing through.

The Northeast Airport Hub, which includes the airports of Venice, Treviso, Verona and Brescia, handled almost 10.9 million passengers between January and July 2025, an increase of +4.3% on the previous year. July closed with almost 2 million passengers, in line with 2024.
Traffic at Venice airport in the first seven months of the year increased by +2.3% compared to the same period in 2024 (over 6.7 million passengers). Growth in the first months of the year stabilised between June and July, with almost 1.2 million passengers handled in July.
The main international markets between January and July were Spain, Great Britain, France and Germany. The main market was the domestic market, with a 20% share of traffic.
London, Paris and Madrid were the most popular destinations for passengers in the first seven months of 2025.
Marco Polo retains its leading role in intercontinental travel, thanks in part to the new operations launched in recent months (there were almost 600,000 passengers on long-haul destinations between January and July).
Treviso airport handled over 300,000 passengers in July and almost 1.9 million in the first seven months of the year, with a positive trend of +6% compared to 2024.
The leading market in terms of traffic volume during the month was Spain (10 destinations), followed by Albania and Romania.
The main destinations were Tirana (270,000 passengers in the first seven months), Bucharest and Brussels.
According to sample surveys carried out at the airport, 54% of passengers are aged between 25 and 34.
Verona Airport handled 480,000 passengers in July (+3% compared to July 2024) and almost 2.3 million year-to-date (+9% on the previous year), record figures for Catullo, confirming its growth potential even in the summer period.
The main market for Verona airport was once again the domestic market, with 840,000 passengers between January and July (37% of total traffic). The second largest market was the UK, followed by Germany and Spain.
The cities with the highest traffic were Catania, London and Palermo.
According to the latest passenger profile survey results, incoming traffic accounts for 56% of Verona airport’s traffic. 18% of passengers travel to visit relatives and friends (VFR).
Rete Aeroportuale Pugliese (BRI, BDS, FOG, TAR)
In the first seven months of 2025, a total of 6,452,431 passengers (+8.88%) passed through the airports of Puglia between Bari, Brindisi and Foggia, compared to 5,926,330 in the same period of 2024.
In July 2025, Bari airport recorded 859,078 passengers (+4.06%) compared to the same month of the previous year.
In addition to the domestic market, which recorded 306,088 passengers, the international market recorded 540,736 passengers.
The Greek market, with approximately 63,000 passengers, is the main international market.
Brindisi Airport, on the other hand, recorded 407,245 passengers (+0.61%) in July 2025 compared to July 2024.
Domestic traffic recorded 261,486 passengers, an increase (+0.24%) compared to the same month in July 2024.
International traffic recorded 141,602 passengers compared to 141,411 in July 2024, a slight increase (+0.14%) compared to July 2024. The main international market was Switzerland with approximately 50,000 passengers.
Foggia airport recorded 7,140 passengers, an increase of (+1.65%) compared to July 2024.
