Rome’s airport system exceeded 5 million passengers in June; the Northeast Airport Hub handled over 1.9 million passengers in June 2025; in June 2025, 1.1 million passengers passed through the airports of Bari, Brindisi and Foggia between arrivals and departures.

In June, Rome’s airport system, consisting of Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Fiumicino and Giovan Battista Pastine Airport in Ciampino, recorded a total traffic of 5.1 million passengers, an increase of 3% compared to the same period in 2024.
In detail, Rome Fiumicino handled 4.8 million passengers, recording a 3% increase compared to the same period last year. Point-to-point traffic, i.e. direct connections without intermediate stops, reached 4.1 million passengers, marking a 4% increase on an annual basis.
The flow of passengers on short-haul connections reached 3.7 million, up 3% compared to June 2024. Once again, this result was driven by good traffic volumes within the European Union and growth on non-EU routes.
Intercontinental traffic also grew by 4% compared to June 2024, with North America confirming its position as the main long-haul market in terms of traffic volumes. June was marked by the launch of American Airlines’ new direct connection between Rome Fiumicino and Miami, a route that joins the five other US destinations already served by the airline.
The Far East market recorded the highest growth in absolute terms, exceeding 2024 traffic volumes by 8%. Among the factors contributing to this result were the return of Cathay Pacific’s direct flights to Hong Kong, which began on 5 June, the availability of ITA Airways connections to Bangkok, which were not operating during the same period last year, and the summer resumption of Qantas’ direct flights to Australia.
Next was the Arabian Peninsula market, which recorded 7% growth compared to June 2024, supported by increased frequencies by Emirates, which from the 1st of the month brought the number of direct flights from Rome Fiumicino to Dubai to three per day.
The growth trend in Central and South America continued, with a 6% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Giovan Battista Pastine Airport in Ciampino closed June with 336,000 passengers.

In the first six months of 2025, 8.9 million passengers used the Northeast Airport Hub (Venice, Treviso, Verona and Brescia), an increase of +5% compared to the first half of 2024. In June, almost 1.9 million passengers were handled (+1.5% on the same month of the previous year).
Venice airport exceeded 1.16 million passengers in June, in line with the same month in 2024. The number of passengers in the first half of the year exceeded 5.5 million, up 3.2% on the previous year.
The main international markets were Spain, Great Britain, France and Germany. Italy is the leading market, with over 1.1 million passengers (20% of total traffic).
The main destinations chosen by passengers were Madrid, Paris CDG and Barcelona.
At the beginning of June, American Airlines launched direct daily flights to Dallas. The new connection complements the non-stop flights already operating between Venice and North America.
Treviso airport handled There were 440,000 passengers on direct long-haul destinations in the first half of 2025 (320,000 in the first six months of 2024).
290,000 passengers in June (+8% compared to the same month in 2024) and over 1.5 million in the first six months of the year, +6.1% on the previous year.
The airport’s network is mainly international: Spain (12 destinations), Albania, Romania, Poland and Belgium were the top markets during the first half of the year.
The main destination between January and June was Tirana, with 230,000 passengers, followed by Bucharest and Brussels CRL.
Verona airport handled over 420,000 passengers in June, in line with the same month in 2024. The number of passengers rose to almost 1.8 million, an increase of 11% compared to the first half of 2024.
With over 670,000 passengers in the first half of the year, the domestic market was once again the main market, followed by Great Britain, Germany, Spain and Albania.
Catania (almost 200,000 passengers), London and Palermo were the favourite destinations for passengers travelling from “Catullo”.
Passengers on long-haul destinations operating at the airport numbered around 62,000 (+12% compared to the first half of 2024).
In June, Fly One inaugurated a new twice-weekly flight to Bucharest, connecting Verona airport with Romania.

At Bari/Palese airport, 768,810 passengers arrived and departed in June, 7.61% more than the 714,442 recorded in the same month of 2024. Domestic traffic decreased by 2.91%, while international traffic, with 458,199 passengers, increased by 15.86% compared to 395,483 passengers in June 2024. This resulted in a 12.82% increase in total passenger traffic for January-June 2025, which stood at 3,585,270 compared to 3,178,270 passengers in the first six months of last year.
At Brindisi airport, June closed with a 1.66% increase, with 371,729 passengers compared to 365,664 in June 2024. This meant that in the first six months, traffic rose from 1,486,934 passengers in 2024 to 1,553,994 in 2025, an increase of 4.51%.
For Foggia airport, in the first six months of 2025, there were 39,696 passengers, 65.70% more than in the first six months of 2024, when 23,956 passengers passed through. In June 2025, 7,687 passengers arrived and departed from Foggia, compared to 7,028 in June 2024, an increase of 9.38%.
Passenger growth in the months of January to June 2025 at the three Apulian airports was 5,178,960, an increase of 10.45% compared to the 4,688,993 passengers recorded in the first half of 2024.
