Fiumicino Airport recorded 3.9 million passengers in March; the Northeast Airport Hub handled over 1.3 million passengers in March 2025; in March 2025, 741,000 passengers passed through the airports of Bari, Brindisi and Foggia between arrivals and departures.

The Roman airport system, which includes Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Fiumicino and Giovan Battista Pastine Airport in Ciampino, ended March with a 9% increase compared to 2024, reaching a total of 4.2 million passengers.
In detail, Rome Fiumicino airport welcomed 3.9 million passengers, an increase of 9% compared to the same period last year.
Point-to-point traffic, i.e. flights without intermediate stops, reached 3.3 million passengers, an increase of 9% compared to March 2024.
Short-haul flights recorded approximately 3.2 million passengers, an increase of 11% compared to 2024. This increase is mainly due to the higher influx of passengers within the European Union, which saw growth of 14%. The positive trend also continued in the Middle East, which continued to perform well with a 95% increase in short-haul traffic, boosted by the resumption of flights to Tel Aviv.
Intercontinental traffic also recorded growth of +4% compared to March 2024. Particularly significant was the volume of passengers from the Far East, which recorded an increase of 10% compared to last year, followed by Africa with +23% compared to March 2024.
Good results were also recorded for connections with Central and South America, which saw a 6% increase in traffic compared to the same month last year, driven in particular by the increase in flights to São Paulo and Buenos Aires, which are increasingly connected to Italy’s main hub.
With the start of the summer aviation season, Fiumicino has also reactivated several connections with North America that were suspended during the winter: destinations now available with direct flights include Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Toronto.
Giovan Battista Pastine Airport in Ciampino closed March with 345,000 passengers.

The North-East Airports System (Venice, Treviso, Verona and Brescia airports) handled over 1.1 million passengers in February 2025, an increase of +4.5% compared to February 2024. In total, over 2.2 million passengers were recorded, +5.4% on the first two months of 2024.
Venice airport handled almost 690 thousand passengers in February, a positive trend of +1% compared to the same month last year. Passenger flows in the first two months of the year were over 1.34 million, +1.9% compared to 2024.
Traffic during the month was characterised by an international component of 80% (550 thousand passengers).
After the domestic market, the main markets were France, Great Britain and Spain.
In the ranking of favourite destinations in February there are Madrid, Paris and Barcelona.
Treviso airport recorded about 220 thousand passengers in the month, an increase of +6.2% compared to February 2024.
The progressive passengers were almost 450 thousand, +7.8% compared to the first two months of 2024.
The market with the highest traffic flow was Spain (over 90 thousand passengers in the first two months, with Valencia as the top destination), followed by Albania and Romania.
Tirana is confirmed as the airport’s main destination, followed by Bucharest and Charleroi.
Verona airport handled over 210 thousand passengers during the month of February and over 430 thousand year to date. Compared to 2024, the trend was positive, +15.8% in February and +15.2% in the first two months of the year.
After the domestic market, with over 76 thousand passengers (35% of total traffic), the main international market was Great Britain, followed by Germany.
The favourite destinations in the month were Catania, London and Palermo.
Long-haul flights in the first two months handled about 29 thousand passengers (including Cape Verde and Senegal).

The number of passengers arriving and departing at Bari airport in the month was 424,364, 21.5% more than the 349,217 recorded in the same month of 2024. Domestic traffic increased by 9.8%, while international traffic, with 188,344 passengers, increased by 39.2% compared to 135,339 passengers last year. This has led to a growth in the first two months of 18.3% for total passenger traffic, which reached 843,955 units compared to 713,654 in the first two months of last year.
For Brindisi airport, February ended with a 10% increase (176,751 passengers compared to 160,747 in February 2024). This meant that in the first two months of 2025, traffic increased from 317,563 passengers in 2024 to 344,723 in the first two months of this year, an increase of 8.6%. The same percentage growth was recorded for international scheduled passengers, who numbered 40,226 compared to 37,039 in the same period last year.
For Foggia airport, in the first two months of 2025 there were 12,824 passengers, 170% more than in the first two months of 2024 when there were 4,761 passengers. In February alone, there were 6,328 passengers arriving and departing from Foggia, compared to 2,206 in February 2024, an increase of 187%.
Therefore, during the month of February, the total number of passengers arriving and departing from the airports of Bari, Brindisi and Foggia was 607,443, an increase of 18.6% compared to the same month in 2024 when the total was 512,170 passengers. In the first two months of the year, the total number of passengers at the three airports was 1,201,502, an increase of 16%. Of these, 411,784 +28.4% were international scheduled passengers.
